Hari Valentine Buat Semuanya

Siapa bilang bahwa Valentine’s Day itu hanya buat mereka yang bercinta? Ternyata ‘Hari Kasih Sayang’ ini bisa juga dirayakan oleh semuanya seperti yang terjadi di Parlemen Australia di Canberra. Seorang anggota dari Opposition Party membagikan hadiah Valentine’s Day, bunga mawar coklat tidak hanya untuk temannya separtai saja, tapi untuk semuanya.

Sejenak rupanya mereka melupakan perpedaan pendapat  yang ada. Cocok sekali untuk sedikit merenungkan artinya Valentine’s Day. Sesaat terlihat senyum terkulum….Sejenak untuk tidak saling perang mulut, maklumlah kalau anggota parlemen di Australia sini ini sedang bersidang dan bertanya jawab, bisa ribut sekali. Pihak yang berlawanan saling perang mulut dan eyel-eyelan yang kadang-kadang jadi seperti anak-anak kecil. Ha…. Bicara tentang Valentine’s Day itu memang sekarang semakin digembar-gemborkan oleh mereka yang punya maksud untuk mendapat keuntungan. Tukang bunga, tukang coklat, penjual kartu ucapan selamat (greeting cards), restoran dan sebagainya menawarkan dagangan khusus yang menggiurkan. Adpertensi di TV juga tidak ketinggalan.Cinta kasih antara wanita dan pria yang seharusnya bersifat pribadi dibesar-besarkan dan dikobar-kobarkan. Ini semua membuat mereka yang sedang patah hati atau yang sendirian karena cinta yang tidak kunjung tiba merasakan kesepian dan kesedihan yang mendalam.

Untuk mengurangi rasa sedih dan sepi disaat Hari Cinta Kasih ini, baik juga idee untuk menbagikan permen coklat Valentine atau hadiah kecil lainnya untuk semua teman-teman, disekolah ataupun ditempat kerja. Bukankah kasih sayang itu seharusnya buat semua orang????

St. Valentine’s Day – Love Potion No.9

What can you do to win a heart and love on this Valentine’s Day? You may try to serve a special drink. A special concoction with the magic nine ingredients. You can make it yourself and present it in two tall cocktail glasses, well chilled and decorated with some fresh strawberries.

Love Potion no 9 Drink:

• 1 cup of sweet red wine
• 9 basil or mint leaves
• 9 red rose petals
• 9 cloves
• 9 apple seeds
• 9 drops vanilla essence
• 9 teaspoons strawberry juice
• 9 teaspoons apple juice
• 9 small pieces of ginseng root.

Put all ingredients in a pot to boiling point.  Let cool and chilled overnight. Strain before serving. As this concoction is heated, the alcohol content in the wine will be much reduced. It is very suitable for non drinkers. You can double the recipe to serve for two.

I always love this song. I think it is very romantic. The mention of pastas in this song is just hilarious but it is so sweet nonetheless. It is another oldie but certainly a goodie:) For those who have fallen in love with an Italian girl, this song  certainly brings back the unforgetable memories.

This song is an oldie sung by Sam Cooke and was released on April 14, 1960. Wonderful World ( Don’t Know Much) was written by Sam Cooke and songwriters Lou Adler and Herb Alpert and it is about a guy who obviously hated school and didn’t achieve much at school, but he was falling in love with a girl who was the top of the class.

This song is unusual because of the lyrics which mention many subjects studied at school… Kind of funny but it is undeniably one of the sweet and unusual songs ever written.

What’s genius about Mike’s lyrics is that instead of saying that directly he uses these crazy strange metaphors, “if you were a piece of wood I’d nail you to the floor” and quite bizarre stuff and I like that.
