Cymbidium orchids: Quite a few of the spikes have burst open to reveal plump flower buds. Some other spikes are still quite small.

Dendrobium nobile: The long anticipated little nubbins are growing painfully slow. There are four canes that will grow flowers this year, while few more large canes are still too young. The long and fat canes are heavy and the small pot has to be hung to prevent it from falling down. It is the beginning of winter here in Melbourne, and I put it outside in the sun during the day and under cover at night. This Den nobile was given as a mystery bonus in 2013 from an orchid farm in Langwarrin, so we were not told the colour of the blooms.

Zygopetalum orchid: After being divided into two parts , the Zygopetalum maculatum has only one spike growing for this season. The other smaller hybrid has no flower buds growing at all.
