Jasmine - delightful fragrance.jpg

Arabian Jasmine (Jasminum sambac, Melati):

At the moment, the Arabian Jasmine that is grown in a pot has many flowers. I think the temperate climate of Melbourne has made the flower size kind of smaller, but the fragrance is still the same, delightfully sweet. I picked a handful and now during the night, the amazing smell fills our living room.

Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa, Sedap Malam):

After few years without any flowers, now the Tuberose  has managed to flower. A single stem with three flowers. It is a bit hard for this plant to flower here in Melbourne. I think it needs longer summer heat to flower well. I plan to dig them up early winter and replant the bulbs in richer soil in spring.

Thought of the day: “Stop and Smell the Roses”

It means to relax and to take time out of busy life and to appreciate the beauty of life. Life is not only about work, work and work. If we stop for awhile and enjoying more of the nature around us and spend more time with family, life will be much sweeter.

For Frank Wilson: thank you for sharing the beautiful video clip 🙂
